Drawing/painting experiment #1 for the week.  Apply a wash over a pencil sketch and white pencil. "Keeping it simple" is the new black.

Space Bug

I think his wings may not be draw so well, but I like his look/feel.  Maybe more to come with this character?  "Wings crossed" :-)

Sketching at night while watching TV.  I like the cowboy fella getting shot, for the shapes in the figure, not the act of being "shot" as in, "I like violence".

Because my time is a "speedy" beast, I have to be quick on my feet to catch it. ( artistically speaking )  I came up with an easy fix to say more and do less.  I call this easy fix a, "Blue Doodle".  All you need is a fat blue marker, brush pen, marker paper, and about 30-60 seconds of your time.

I need to draw more often, MUCH MORE often.  Being at the top of your game is not remotely an easy task.  In fact, I'm not sure I'll ever be at the "top", per say??  I want to always be hungry and curious to learn more:-)

Brush Pen

I enjoy trying to tame the wild "inking" beast that is a brush pen.  A "finished" effect it achieves in mer seconds is very rewarding. Working full-time and raising two boys, a brush pen is a super quick artistic fix!

I've been hitting the wall all week trying to figure out a consistent character design.  I think I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel???!!! Fingers crossed!

Hello Friday.

Sketch of a 6 year old child.  I'll call him, "Robert".  Sure, why not :-)

Climbing Mt. Character Design is crazy difficult.  Most days, I'm at the basin banging my head against unfeeling rock!  I love the adventure, don't get me wrong, but jeez!!!  I'm envious of those Disney artist making it look sooooo easy!  With that said, I took a break from my book project, and came up with the character sketch below.  ( Harry Potter like )
